A few years ago I also tried to buy the seat reclining kit and was told
basically what you have stated.  So I went ahead and developed one.  I had in
mind to make them available to others. It is designed to be relatively easy to
install on an existing seat. It seems to work well but has not been put to the
acid test yet. I hope to get my IV P flying in less than a year. I went to
somewhat of an effort  to interest Lancair in it but saw little enthusiasm in
it. I got a comment that the few simple parts were too expensive. I tended to
agree but, rather than shop around for better prices, thought my time would be
better spent working on my airplane.
I say all this because, if the right connections were made, maybe something
could be made of it sooner than later, and without a lot of additional work on
my part.
