George Braly says: Something is "wrong".   Unexpectedly HOT induction air
should not make the CHTS get hot enough to require a power reduction when
one is in icing conditions.

George,
We met at your shop where I put GAMI injectors on my 4-p.

I have often picked up ice on my piston 4p on climb out, full rich 31.5 &
2500 (75%) and have the same experience, hot CHT's requiring reduced power
to keep temps in the green.  Don't know what to say other than it happened,
every time I got into much ice.  I enlarged the alt air inlet and went to a
K&N filter.  That helped some, but did not eliminate the problem.  I think
most of these guys must not fly that much IFR in ice.  Gene Hughes in
Montana does fly his 4p IFR frequently and has the same complaint.  He flies
his 414 if he figures much ice is forecast.
