It's a nice idea to split
the rear seat in an ES, but the challenge will be providing seat support.
The back of the rear seat is made rigid by the angled rib section at the
top. If this is split, and no support is provided at the top center, the
seats will twist and the inboard top corner will bend backward. You could
make a rigid fixed support that went all the way across. That would allow
one half of the seat to come forward. The trade-off would be having a
fixed bar across the open side.
