The back of the rear seat is made rigid = by the angled rib section at the top. If this is split, and no support = is provided at the top center, the seats will twist and the inboard top = corner will bend backward. You could make a rigid fixed support that = went all the way across. That would allow one half of the seat to come = forward. The trade-off would be having a fixed bar across the open = side.
