After flying my L4P for over 128 hrs I find the flap down speed to be very
good, while slow, because you want it slow when entering the airport area and
trying to slow down. I put out the first part of the flaps at 160 Kts. and
then take off flaps a bit later to get down to my gear speed of 130 Kts. Then
full flaps on final.
The fast up flaps is OK on the ground and since you take off with partial
flaps and put them up before 135 Kts. the fast transition is almost
unnoticeable. I have forgotten to put them up until much later and faster and
there is a very noticeable difference.
If for some reason you have to make a go around from full flaps you better be
very careful and really watch how fast you let them up, but you have to be
very fast at inching up the lever and back to center, not easy to get. I
haven't had to do a go around from full flaps yet. In some cases you may want
the fast retract speed. Bottom line, I like them that way now that I'm used
to it.
