I am curious - what is the FAA requirement for crankshaft certification? I
didn't know there was any as I thought the engine got certified as a unit
and folklore says that a run of 200 hours at full power is about all that is
required - and the TBO is whatever the manufacturer says it is.

First let's wait and see if the crank broke through the repaired throw. My
experience (gained by learning from other peoples experiences) says that to
get one end of the crank to "disconnect" from the other the break is usually
at a main bearing, not a rod journal.
