Bob,
   All true but I wonder if there any fixed pitch guys out there to give us
actual performance numbers.  I have a wood prop on my Glassair-1 and I'm
quite happy with it.  It's optimized for cruise, but the takeoff and
climbout are good (it's not rocket), and of course I saved some weight and a
big chunk of money.  Any fixed pitch 360 drivers listening?  BTW, a properly
designed fixed pitch prop should be as efficient if not more, at the
operating conditions it is designed for.
