rear hinged canopy that can be jettisoned.

If you don't want to go to that much trouble you might find an early RV6
builder and take a look at his plans.  Van designed a release for the
forward hinge pins that ought to be adaptable to your airplane.  Remember to
placard the control "Tail Removal Device".
