Yes, and no. I'm using the same coils as those on my 2000 Chevy P/U. It has
the small LS1 v-8, I think it is a 5.3. Anyway, it has eight individual coils
mounted on the valve covers. The connector is on the opposite end as the
secondary lead tower. It takes a different connector as the Corvette coil, so
make sure you get the right ones. As I recall, I had to make a minor mod to
the connectors to get them to fit, but you would never know it by looking. The GM p/n for the connector is 12126487 or PT757 (A/C Delco). The GM p/n for
the coil is 12558693, or D581 for the Delco p/n. As for cost, I don't think
they were any cheaper than the Corvette counterparts, but I didn't compare
prices when ordering. Coils were about $27/ea and the connectors were about
$30/ea. Might be cheaper to buy a complete harness from GM.
Coil wires were another problem. I got the coil connectors from MSD (call them
and they will send a set for free) and then cut up a set of universal plug
wires. Mark
Thanks, Kelly
I'll check it out. Mark, do you have a part number/source

Ed,
Take a look at the coils that Mark Steitle used on his 20B. Think they
are the same as his Chev or GMC pickup has. As I recall they offered some advantages
over
the coils Tracy and others (including me) have. I believe Mark said they
were
easier to mount (connector on opposite end from plug lead) and used a less
expensive connector. They also work with the EC-2. I do not know if the
EC-2
program is the same as the LS1 coils called out by Tracy. IMHO

Dyke Delta/13B/RD1C/EC2 -------------- Original message from "Ed Anderson" : -------------- But, still got a few things to do to the aircraft, want to redo my motor
mounts as I find I have no rubber insulation between engine and mount (it
just looks that way). Would like to switch to LS1 coils, need to get the EC2
updates in any case, so that would be the time to have it converted to LS1
coils. Anyone know of a supplier with a good price on the LS1 coils? The
electrical connector as well, those things cost almost as much as the coils. I think I can find some non-OME connectors at a much more reasonable price.
I purchased on coil back a while ago just to see what it weighed and to
have for mounting measurements. The price of the coil was reasonable, but
the electric connector surprised me.
