Subject: [FlyRotary] LS1 Coils - amp draw?

Good evening all,

I think I found out why my engine ran under powered on the last flight. The fuse supplying the leading coils was blown. It was a 15 amp fuse, which I would have thought would be more than adequate. Of course, the fuse is supplying two of the coils, not one. Perhaps that's where I went wrong with the calculation.

John;

What type of fuse were you using?  Just looking at the time-current specs for an automotive blade-type fuse, shows that it should not open until about 22 amps, and then only for a duration of more than about 1 sec.
