sounds like a good idea. The temperatures do cool down substantially while
gliding down for a landing.

Guys, Try this...If the engine is hot on take off...200*+ or so, stay
in the pattern at 1000agl with reduced power asap. Then make a
long easy gliding approach during which the temp will come down
substantially. Then, you can break off the decent and climb out again at
a safer temp. This has worked for me several times.
