Joe: The Racing Beat info you received is correct but there are subtle differences in how each of us implements the placement of sensors. I measure water temperature at the water pump outlet but modified the pump housing to do so; there
are some large bosses on the housing – I drilled and tapped one for connecting a mechanical temperature probe. For oil temperature, I made an adaptor that fits between the oil cooler outlet and engine inlet (bottom connector of iron at flywheel end) with
a 1/8 pipe port to mount an electrical sending unit. The oil adaptor is a 4” piece of machined aluminum with male 18mm x 1.5mm threads at the engine port and screws directly to the iron; the other end has female 3/8 pipe threads to take an AN-10 flared connector/oil
hose from cooler.

Where are builders placing temp sensors for oil and water?
I believe Jim M. at Racing Beat stated measure oil temp going into the engine and water temp coming out of the engine. Currently oil goes into the engine at the oil line closest to the fly wheel
location. I have a remote filter mounted to Tracy's plate and want to place the sensor on the output of the filter with a short hose going into the engine.
I am measuring water temp at the water pump housing coming out of the engine going into the rad.
Thanks for any input.
