Joe,

On my 13B's, the oil supply to the metering oil pump shaft is a direct passage to the gallery at the nearest main bearing.  If the shaft is removed, this would result in a leak in the main bearing supply.  I don't know if this would cause problems and didn't want to find out.  As a result, I left the shaft and gear in place, made a spacer to mimic the presence of the oil metering pump, and installed a block off plate.

For those of us using oil premix with fuel:
Do you remove the oil pump gear and shaft from the front cover and bolt on a block off plate?

Do you keep the gear and shaft and just install the block off plate?

Thanks for any help
