Ken, after making a flight from Mississippi to central
Texas with Tracy and Charlie one cold winter day and wondering whether my toes
would have to be removed - I strongly recommend a heater of some sort. IF
you do not use a thermostat in your cooling system to keep water temps up around
180F - don't bother with a water heater - now if you use a thermostat then it
may be OK. I think I would try one of the electrical heating systems -
quick and easy to install and you don't have to cut into plumbing or mess with
exhaust muffs.

Subject: [FlyRotary] heater system
Hi All,
Today in Wisconsin it was snowing--- yet. I live about 30 miles north
of Oshkosh. I am planning to start my 13B engine for the first time
in a month or two, if it warms up. But seeing it seems to be winter here 9
months out of the year, I believe I need a heating system. Ben Haas has
suggested a Danhard under dash heater. I wanted to just finish the plane,
so I had not planned on adding a heating system. However, this probably is
the time to do this. At least, I need to run heater lines from the engine
through the fire wall. Where do I run the heater hose from the engine and
where does the return connect back on the engine? If anyone has
other recommendations for the heater core system for inside the cabin, please
let me know.
Thanks
for your help as I am trying to finish my Zenith 801.
