So Ed, are you telling me that because I didn't make it to an airport on my 3 occasions it dosen't count?  Heck, anyone can land on a RUNWAY.  ;-)

Very well done Chris.  Welcome to the club of aircraft systems designer/maintainer shame.

I agree that a fuel problem is most suspicious, but for tools you should just bring everything.  Be prepared to remove the engine while you are there, or re-wire it, or re-design the fuel system.  That way you wont be sorry.

I know what are feeling in terms of wrapping your head around what just happened and what might be the cause. Let us know what you find.
