Agree!  My 2003 Mazda Tribute 'airport' car has over 150k.  The 92 Suzuki Sidekick 'boat hauler' has 215k and is just starting to use a quart between changes but both run like new (can't say the same for the Sidekick's plastic which is recycling itself into dust : )   BMW's on board oil change scheduler starts at around 15k for oil service (synthetic oil & filter).  It shortens the interval if run hard or all slow city traffic.  It looks to me that the algorithm is basically just measuring the total amount of fuel burned.   I gave my daughter a 70 something Datsun that had 410k before the front seat would no longer support the driver.  I can only assume she took my advice on oil to use.

From everything I've ever read and learned from a buddy who was a Mobile outside salesman, Mobile One is good for 15K between oil changes in modern cars.  In 91 I bought a new Honda Accord and ran Mobile one like that for four years and 100K before selling it.  I spun a new filter every 5K but only dropped the oil every 15K.  Would have liked to have kept it past 100K to see how it did in the really long haul, but had to sell...
