Tom, consensus of an Eaton engineer is that the two tapered bearings on the output shaft are moving the 80W from the small of the taper to the larger end of the rollers, there is no slot for the oil to return to the main body of the unit.  A grove has been machined for an oil return to circulate the oil and relieve the pressure on the seal, also a retainer has been made for the output shaft seal, something it needed in the first place.  There are holes drilled in the ring gear that circulate oil out of the case and this oil will be routed thru a cooler.  I had a tank on the firewall at first with the oil coming out of the drain hole and it was to return into the fill hole, but all the oil was circulated into the tank and onto the firewall, so I removed the tank and put a small tank mounted on the redrive connected to the vent hole on the re-drive and didn't lose anymore oil out, but it needed the cooling as the case expanded with heat generated and the seal came out.  I'll post pictures when I get it plumbed.  JohnD

Tracy, I missed out on the button also.  I'm nearing the finishing of the rebuild of Wittman W-10 after the Marcotte Re-drive failure.  The oiling system or lack thereof was an accident waiting to happen.

You sure do Chris, and congratulations!

BTW,  I recently found the long lost box of "I love flying my Mazda Rotary" buttons.  If anyone else missed out on their button, let me know.

Chris,

When you think about it, every landing is a potential crash scene.  Its our job to see that nobody gets hurt and the airplane is still usable after every landing.

Same goofy grin when you realize you are on the ground safely. As a cop, this is a potential crash scene I am happy not to be the very "first responder"

Chris,

Congratulations on your first flight. The excitement quotient has to be right up there with the first solo, if not more.
