Jarrett,
The main problem (from my eyeball engineering) will be integrating the Renesis (or other) water-pump into a simplified
"Mistral" hsg without any interference with the Lycoming mount ring and "Dyna-focal" engine mounts..........The only part of
the "Renesis" hsg that has to be duplicated is the water-pump hsg portion (see photo) and provisions made for locating
the "Renesis" ignition sensor in the same relative position on a redesigned "Mistral" hsg..............Much of the "Mistral"
open front can be eliminated (no need for the accessory drive section) but retaining the removable front cover (which
doubles as a alternator mount point) would be a nice feature (but add complication) as it allows access to the 13B front
thrust brg , gear stack and oil pump without pulling the engine (this feature is not necessary if it is too costly).............The
relative positions of the water-pump and front oil seal from the 13B/Renesis frt side hsg need to be maintained to allow
the use of the "Renesis" frt hub , pulley and ignition trigger wheel and to maintain pulley/belt alignment.............
If you followed the string of posts awhile back about adapting the "Renesis" water-pump to the 93-99 13BREW and the
Cosmo 13B/20B you may remember that Mark Steitle cut the pump portion from a "Renesis" frt cover and it was bolted
to his P-port 20B...........The CozyGirrls of this group are also doing this to their 13BREW.............The attached photos are
of Mark's installation and the other photos are courtesy of the "CozyGirrls" after cutting the pump section from their hsg
and much grinding and filing...............Will have to split up the photos..............I also have a Lycoming mount ring and the
Dynafocal mounts that can be used to verify any potential clearance and/or interference problems...........

Excellent! Thanks Kelly, the Mistral Front cover [mount] actually is a fair bit simpler than the OEM cover in some ways, w/ some small changes it looks very do-able! I've got local access to some rotary stuff [an wrecked car I'd spoken for a couple years back] so between that and what you've got I'm sure I can produce a similar product that meets the needs of the average homebuilder. Thanks for taking the time to send all these my way.. lots of food for thought there!
Btw, is your Mistral mount installed a this point [either on a short block, or airframe]?
Thanks again!
