I've used stainless rod to weld 321 stainless to Inconel, but in welding inconel to inconel, I'm not taking any shortcuts. It's my exhaust system, which to me is the most critical part of my  installation. If the engine stops running, I've got a glider. If the exhaust fails, I've got a flaming glider.

I have been told that 309 stainless works well but have no data to back that up.
