Actually the 86 to early 89 were the same then 89 to 95 were
for the same weight
rotors (last year the 3rd generation RX7 was imported to the US
although it was produced in Japan until about 2002).
The way to tell if a 89 engine is early or late production is to
check the combustion
dish (depression) of the rotor.........If it is rough (as cast) uses
the 86 to early 89 counterweight.
If the the combustion dish is smooth (machined) it is a late
89 to 95 rotor and uses
89 to 95 counterweight.
The Renesis rotors are a different weight and uses the
appropriate counterweight.
Also the compression ratio of a given year model rotor makes no
difference as the
NA or Turbo rotors are the same weight.
