This is just an eyeball comparison of the two Mazda pumps
The Renesis pump is undoubtedly lighter than the 2nd gen pump cartridge. The water pump and front cover account for the lighter weight of the Renesis compared to the 2nd gen 13B.
However, the design of the Renesis pump is stone-age crude by comparison. The impeller is a simple bent piece of sheet metal. The 2nd gen pump has a cast and machined scroll impeller that looks like a work of art by comparison.
Looks can be deceiving however. I have no data on the actual performance.

Keep in mind that I'm comparing it to a 20B water pump, not a 13B water
pump. The 20B pump (housing & cartridge, no pulley) weighs 11.8 lbs.
The Renesis pump & housing after being cut off the front cover is
4.5 lbs. So, I potentially can save over 7 lbs. The big question
is if the Renesis WP flow is enough water to cool the 20B.
At present, I'm still gathering parts for the conversion, so I'm
currently running the stock 20B pump.
Any idea what the Meziere pump weighs? You'll need to add the
weight of brackets too. The Renesis pump will fit onto the front cover
same as the stock pump... well, with a few minor mods.
