Kelly,

As stated below, I have the Turbonetics 60-1, 1.15 A/R with whatever standard wheel is supplied.  I don’t remember the specification for the wheel.  I picked this turbo because it seemed to be the best suited for my needs and the Mazda 13B engine.  It does not over speed and develops good boost at the right engine rpm.  Takeoff is up to 40” MP,  38” climb, and 30-36” cruise.  I like to fly between 7,000 and 10,000 feet for cross country.  I plan to be at Oshkosh for Air Venture this summer and plan to get a Mountain High Oxygen System, so that I can cruise higher, up to 17,900 VFR.  See http://www.mountainhighoxygen.com/index.phtml?nav_id=28&product_id=421

Bob,

I presume your turbo is a TO-4...........Do you know which turbine wheel you have ?.............I have been talking to "Turbonetics" about a TO-4, 50-1 trim,

1.15 a/r turbine housing and they say my only choices for the turbine wheel are

the F1-65 mm or the F1-68 mm with the 1.15 a/r housing...........I have indicated

flight up to 18,000 ft (not often) and they have suggested the F1-68 mm to avoid

overspeed at high altitude............

   I have compared the TO-4 50-1 and 60-1 compressor maps and used 25 lb/min

airflow at a max 1.7 p/r (approx 10 psi boost or 50 in/mp).......Both the 50 & 60 -1 look good on the flow charts and wondered what the factor was for your choice of the 60-1..........

Realistically I will  not use over about 5 psi or 40 in/mp and will just normalize most of the time......

I would like to know what boost figures you use for take off, climb and cruise

plus what altitude you typically cruise at..............

Thanks

My turbo is a Turbonetics 60-1 compressor trim, with 1.15 A/R divided tang, oil to bearings, and water cooled.  See the following link.

There’s also a guy in McKinney.  I can’t remember his name, but you could find it on the EAA website.

Al,

I am about 70 miles SW of DFW at Pecan Plantation (0TX1), and Jason Hutchison also has a rotary-powered RV-6A here.  Feel free to visit anytime.  Neither of us is an A&P.
