Take a look at program mode 6 and mode 8…

There is no use of the cold start switch in those modes in my version of the EC2.  I wasn’t aware that there was in later versions, but I guess Tracy has already mentioned that it depends on which version.

.  The original reason for the cold start switch (I think) was to act as a choke to richen the mixture on starting.  Then because it was there, it is used in the programming process.

Not to dispute your point; just to point out that the cold start switch is not used in the programming (at least not on my EC2).
