Ben well said, maintain the KISS principle.
George (down under)
Todd and all,
I am really leaning toward the rotor with the straight wings. The far upswept wings give me an 80's Aerosmith feel. While probably one of the more influential bands of the era, not really what I think we want to say.
The AOAP wings are close, but I think they are very much associated with AOPA, and not very generic. I think something like the military style (straight out) wings on the rotor would be cool. Besides, as U.S. taxpayers, we own the military wings design anyway. (George and Todd, we will let you in on a technical;) Perhaps even enlarge the rotor a bit to make it stand out more. As far as the words, I like the idea of Flyrotary.com, BUT do we want to make this about the list, or about rotary powered aircraft. As much as I am loyal to this list, I doubt wether we should alienate others the way they have us. (kind of a "do unto others" type of thing) The beauty of this list is the different ideas and opinions, and open forum for just that. Hate to segregate ourselves for a little advertising. Perhaps when asked you could recommend flyrotary.com instead of printing it on the shirt.
My 2 cents, and probably not a bargain at that price.

Just back from a loong working vacation
and catching up on the list.
While there has been an excess of t-shirt posts.... I'd
like to have one! But from viewing all the ideas put forth
so far...
I agree that the best choice for wings style is something
that is recognized by most for it's association with
aviation. As I'm typing I thought of AOPA so I
just checked out their logo. Kinda looks like a rotor in
there doesn't it?
Their wings are a little too downswept, while too upswept
is just too Harley. The straight or slightly upswept wings
with a slight hint of military feel to it would look best
IMO.
As far as adding words... keep it simple
and clear. I like a simple FlyRotary.
Written as one word. Not only does it say everything it
needs too, it is also a testament to this very list that has
brought us all together to share the ideas that ultimatly
lead to our successes. I suppose it could be FlyRotary.com
I also like the
idea of a large image on the back of the shirt and a small
image on the front breast (not small breast).
