Gee Whiz, Dennis, I’m thinking
about the thunderstorm that popped up while we were there and what the
hailstones did to your heavy gauge metal roof. Hate to even think about
what it would have done to 0.016 on the control surfaces or heck even the 0.025
wing skins.
Yes, I think at least part of the problem
is that the EC2 is so feature rich that you can get to running around inside
some of these features and lose track of the fundamentals.
So far, the only mode I have program is the
ignition advance and the fuel map – but then I do have same size
injectors at every port, so no real need for the other modes, no EM2 – so
no autotune to mess with.
Hang in there guys, go back to the basics,
set your controller back to Tracy’s default – a good place to start
and then work it from there. I know easy for me to say and I have been
flying with the EC2 for over 8 years.

programing problems.
I replaced the small red Renesis injectors with the larger
blue injectors. After adjusting the Mode 6 injector size and Mode 3 I got
the engine to run but not well. I than reset the MP to factory settings
and reset Mode 6 and 3. I did this on both A and B. The
engine runs great and with a little Mode 9 Auto Tune I should be ready to fly
again. Very easy tuning if you go Mode 6-3-2-1 in that order.
Bill Schertz -Thanks for sharing the information on the tack RPM doubling
because of noise on the line when the primaries are turned off - I've had the
same problem - some day I'll rerout my primary injector leads to see if that
cures the problem.
We had a BIG hail strom two weeks after the Rotary fly-in. My hanger roof
got dented enough that my insurance will replace it! Than the weather
turned HOT. We see 107 -109 every afternoon. Next week it is
supposed to be more normal - mid to high 90's.

I have
been watching all this EC2 problem solving going on for some time now.
Maybe I was just lucky, but I certainly don't
remember having near the problems that seem to be plaguing builders now.
Or is it just that those who don't have problems don't post?
For me, it wasn't quite plug and play, but it
was darn close. Following the manual exactly is almost mandatory. I
had to read and re-read sections until it became clear in my mind what was
going to happen. Generally, if you call Tracy, he will point out some sentence in the
manual that you have glossed over.
Sorry if this looks like a rant, but just wanted to point out that not everyone
has problems with the EC2.

As has been pointed out, the EC2 is not
a plug and play device and does take some degree of ghostbusters poltergeist work to
chase the gremlins down.
