Of course you should check with your local laws the
reality is, unless I have some other reason to stop you (probable cause....such
as rolling through a stop sign <g>)...and then even more reason to
initiate a search, I would never know. That being said, it amazes me how
many things I can stop folks for....more amazing is how often "turds" all but
scream at the cops "please officer, pull me over" by the outlandish/illegal cars
they drive. One example in Texas is having any color but white or amber
facing forward. These newer led lights that are popular now do this
often.......
But as a cop and an attorney, I would never advise
you to do anything knowingly illegal......or, something truly
unsafe.
All the best,
Chris

Chris,
As an officer of the law do you think it would be
illegal to transport gas in a 50 gal square steel tank mounted on a small two
wheel 4x4 foot trailer that is fully enclosed and is properly lighted and
licenced ?
Thanks for your coment.

Mark,
REALLY? No alcohol in fuel in
Texas. The pumps from where I get my gas says that it "may"
contain 10% ethanol....is this just there to cya (I understand cya does not
always mean "call your attorney"). I question it since when the
Jeffco failed in my strake it was highly speculated it was due to ethanol in
the fuel. I would like to know that it is not present as to eliminate
it as an issue. I have always gotten the 87 octane from the station
across the street from the airport and I had no idea it may not be an
issue for the GSOT. Hmmmmmmm?
OH, btw, I am a cop and while I am sure that I
could pull ya over for the the tanks being transported that way and find a
violation (as damn near everything is illegal these days <sigh>), I
find it highly unlikely that I would. There is too much other stuff to
stroke someone for that has a conscious disregard for others safety (yeah,
you can say being a "new Pinto" could classify for that, but again, other
stuff occupies the day.......like felony "fail to signal turn at
intersection" <g>) Of course, I am in GSOT and not the Peoples
Republic of California.......

Bill,
No alcohol in our gas here in Texas. I
run nothing but mogas in my Lancair. Gov. Perry is fighting the
feds on this issue and I sure hope he wins. Another good reason to
have a rotary fly-in here, right Dennis? \\Mark S.

Well this a Ford, an Escape;
hopefully I'll be able to escape … but the Pinto's gas tank was
underneath the car, between bumper and frame … people shouldn't
tailgate too close when they see 3 gas cans in their face.

You
need to see if you can find a Ford "Pinto" name badge to put on
it. :>)

I got tired of smelling and afraid of carrying gas behind the back
seat of my SUV, so I made this trailer-hitch carrier out of 1
1/4" pipe and an ATV basket … it's not bullet-proof, but if an
accident occurs the gas is better off outside the vehicle than
inside.
