Joe/Michael,
I'm sure these housings would be fine to run in a car. The problem I see from pulling down different motors, one housing will have lost chrome surface and the other seems OK both from the same motor, but the second one is most likely just on the cusp. You just don't know at what stage of wear these housing are at ( even if they look OK) - better to buy new ones and know what you have in your engine. You can evaluate the wear on the cast iron housings and even then they can be ground and re-nitrited if need be.
Buying new will be more cost effective in the long run.

Used ones of questionable pedigree do pop up on ebay often:

I'd probably hack up a used set and get my process down pat, before I'd drill in to a brand new one.

Does anyone have a set of new rotor housings for 89 to 92 13B?  Where should one look?  What is a good price  for them?  I want to build a P Port but I wonder if the non turbo variety would help for noise suppression?  Thanks for any help.
