Hey Mark;
The direct bid from MT, was for $14,850, including the spinner and some other accessories.  The Craig Catto prop was for less than $3000, and the performance figures were almost identical.  High speed cruise was actually better, and with the turbo at takeoff, power shouldn't be a problem.  Lancair kind of groaned too when I made this decision, but my decision was based on several factors.  This will be one fast aircraft, and I need to be right on top of it, therefore, CS is one less thing to worry about.  Next, if, a few hundred hours down the road, I decide that I want CS (electric) I will be pre-wired for it, and can switch.  Lastly, this composite prop can be modified to suit, based on how my static and flight testing goes, and that's a big plus for me.  I am a firm believer in KISS (Keep it simple Sister) and this seems the best way to go, as this project is moving much faster than I anticipated.

Greg,
Have you checked with Jim Ayers on the price of an M/T?  My 76" 3-blade was $7,500.  I find it hard to believe they have gone up that much.  But then again, I did get in on a group buy.   Maybe they are in the midst of doing another group buy at this time?

I have decided to go with fixed pitch on my Legacy 20B FG.  The numbers I am getting back, based on turbocharging, are nothing short of verrrrry goood.....(:-)  If I don't like it, I can always hang a $16,000.00 MT vs. the $3000 composite.

Mark,
When you made your prop choice, was hydraulic even an option with the 20-B setup? If it was why did you choose the electric? I keep looking at the Vesta, the veriProp, the whirlwind, and MT. Part of what I'm looking for is the WWII look also. Otherwise I would probably go with the Ivo Prop. Any feed back on these props by anyone would be appreciated.
