Bob, Joe and Richard,

Thanks Guys everyone's correct, my Son got the same answer.

So Richard, if I tell my grinder to grind a 10:1 taper over 30mm, he should know what I mean. I'm glad it's a common taper, now that I know it's used in all these things I may use it again for other things.

You are right Joe, but the taper denominator is, metric taper 10:1 . It is used in lots of power transfer taper joints. All Rotaxes, Kawasakies and lots of other small engines, aircraft and others, are using it. I am using it on the single rotor too.

Hi George,

Not Ed, but if my trig is not too rusty the angle should be 5.710593 degree.

Ed,
I measured the taper of the flywheel taper with a ruler, the draft is 3mm in 30mm. I checked that with a dial indicator and it was correct - how does one derive the angle of that?
Is it 6 degrees?
