Lynn,
I'm on a medication for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) called Bentyl. This drug is definitely on the FAA's forbidden list. The strange thing is that I have been on this medication since 1989 and have been flying since 1995. I have never had a problem with the medical; I guess that means that OK City has just never caught the problem because I should have never passed the first medical. I am pretty surprised that they do not have a computer scan to find these disqualifications. In any event, now that I know about this problem I do not want the FAA to disqualify me on my next physical which would make me ineligible to fly Sport pilot.

Hi Ken,
Sorry to hear you're going to be forced into Sport Pilot, but at least it's a much better option than you would have had a few years ago. I don't know if you've been following the RV-12, but it's Van's SP offering, and it should be available late this year. If I build a SP plane, that's going to be the one.

Check the rules on that. If you know you will not pass your medical, don't take it.
