My oil cooler opening was 9" x 3.5" and it was cooling very well.

Hi Bobby,

18 sq in is a bit smaller than what I have.  Mine is 10 1/2" wide and averages 2  1/2" high.  However, I also use it to feed my engine intake which is a hole off to one side and right in front of the core where the high pressure area builds up.  Here are a couple of photos of openings.

Ed,

Using your oil cooler scoop / duct what is the approximate size of the opening?  I show the stock oil cooler being 18" x 5".  20% would be 18 sq. in.

Bobby
