2. A short (possibly from probing around the backside of the
EC2 connector, I did that once : ) or a missing ground (even a momentary
loss) has caused one or both of the units to have blown their serial data
drivers or receivers. Plugging equipment in with the power on can
cause either of these conditions.
I know this won't help but #2 has happened often enough that the next
iteration of the EC2 and EM2 will have protection on these two lines.
Yes, I can attest that if you plug
equipment in while power is on - it can not only blow the Serial communcations
out/in the EC2, but can also:
1. Completely wipe out the B
controller
2. Place the A controller in
the "Cold Start" function
3. Make it impossible to run the
engine with all 4 injectors activated (well, almost-it will sputter
along with the cold start activated - IF you put the mixture control
in FULL Lean).
4. Make it necessary to fly
with only two injectors activated (one pair)
Let me know if there is going to be
a backward modification for existing EC2s. And if so, when the
modification is available and I'll send mine in {:>)
By the way, Welcome back home and
to civilization.

Thanks John,
I had another "going nowhere" day. My
neighbor's Lycoming start
looking very enticing :(.
After day's
work with another A&P that's much better with
electronics, I
made no progress.
NOP is still flashing and the injectors are dead. The
rest is working
fine. We should compile a list of
causes and
solutions for the flashing NOP and Tracy should have them
in the
manual?
I will not bore you with the all the details
today.
