Flew down to Lancaster, SC today to see Joe Ewen and his
20B Velocity project. I was totally blown away by his integrated avionics
and his electrical system configuration. The quality of work was simply
outstanding - you have to see it to really appreciate how good it
is.
His own Glass Cockpit configuration was just as impressive
with a communications network between various electronic components that made
use of ready available USB connectivity. Data collection - in
spades! Sure makes my "steam Gauge" cockpit seems like it
belongs back in another century.
Spent time looking over his 20B installation - looks well
though out and laid out. Almost ready to fire up with a little work on the
intake and exhaust systems. ( I hate these guys where I see an air
conditioning compression sitting on the engine- what happened to the real
men ready to melt in the 100F+ temperatures of their cockpits {:>)).
It sure makes me smile to see how far you folks have come
in your really neat installations - getting to where I almost don't want to take
my cowl off for folks to see (almost {:>))
What is doubly nice, Joe lives a few miles from a 6000
foot runway (the very same one I made my one rotor landing after blowing apex
seals on the way to Sun & Fun 2005) which will make his test flights a bit
nicer.
So great work, Joe! I encourage you to post a few
photos to the list so others can pick up on your neat ideas and
work.
Best Regards
Ed
