Embarrassing to yourself, helpful to someone else.
Imagine the embarrassment (at least, outright devastation on the other end....) if someone goes on the long trail for not getting the info and you find out you could have prevented the cause (not counting ignorant folk, .....)
I came to realize, that at least some people will take it to heart and learn from my mistakes (and there are plenty....). I am plain lucky to still be alive - so I have the feeling the Lord of all things has plans for me to stick around for a while. The least I can do is try to pay back by telling others and hopefully they take my mistakes to avoid them....
Especially for new folks (lowtimers, looking up to you as if one was a semi-hero...) it is quite an eye-opener to learn that nobody is/was perfect.
I don't know how many have really listened, but at least one pilot came back and "confessed" to have done the same mistake (actually not a real mistake, just got caught of guard....) and he says he wouldn't be around to tell if it was not for my tale (and the lucky way I got away....).
I can easily live with the embarrassment - could not if someone died and my tale could have warned him/her...
It takes guts to "confess" publicly, but if you have the right audience it is not embarrassing anymore.
Keep at it Ed, I am saving them all - in the "serious" file, not the "funny" one .....

embarrassing - was when I made a 12 mile glide (fortunately landing
safely) - when all I had to do was listen to my old instructors and SWITCH
TANKS! . Its a long story and I won't repeat it again - but that one WAS
embarrassing.
