Hi Ed,
The best price I have found for the pins is from Stein
Air (SA-1018B, SA-1017B [they are MS grade.]) If you like I can order
some and pro rate the cost for what you use. Let me know so we don't
both end up buying them. I should be placing an order with Mouser
shortly (connector bodies,) I will order and extra pair of 37
pin. Hope your trip goes well (no diversions to KLKR this time or
rebuilds in Louisiana,) and I will look forward to seeing you around the end
of the month.
Thanks,
Joe

Thanks Joe
Indeed soldering 74 pins is a bit
daunting. It looks like I get back into the air this Friday to Sun
& Fun then a trip to Louisiana on way back to see kin folks and then
back here by the end of the month. I like your idea, If you know the
part numbers for the crimp-on 37 pin Sub D connectors, let me know and I
will order the parts.
Will let you know when I return.
Best Regards
Ed

Ed,
If you are considering an extension, you may want
to consider crimp on Dsubs. Its a lot easier than soldering a 37
pin Dsub (twice - as in both ends.) I would be happy to lend my
crimper if you need it. In fact we could make an extension when
you have a chance to stop by and look over my engine
installation.

Yeah! But! Tracy.
I figured I would only
have to check the connections once (even if I did have to solder
that *&^% 37 sub D connector on twice) - I didn't think I would
have to check the connection periodically {:>).
what I really didn't consider was the
need for hauling the unit out for reprogramming. Humm, that
cable extension will probably seem a better ideal the more years I get
under my belt.

Hint!
Pg 1 Para. 5 of EC2 installation guide reads:
"I
would also suggest that the EC2 be installed in an easily accessible
location where you can visually verify that the connections to the
EC2 are properly made. " : )

So you are saying that we should mount the EC2 some
place that is very accessible?
Bob Perkinson Hendersonville, TN. RV9 N658RP
Reserved If nothing changes Nothing
changes
I would have to unload and take out
my seats to get under the instrument panel and take the EC2 out
- never thought about its location at installation time -
thought I would never have it out from under the panel - boy!
was I ever wrong {:>)
