That damper looks good, in fact the whole PSRU looks good for a single type HP requirement.

Hi George,

I've never heard any of the Subaru boys say anything negative about the AutoFlight (SUB4 in a previous version) drives.  They seem to be pretty popular with the gyro guys too.  One thing I know for sure, it will either work, or it won't :-)

On the subject of the damper, I have seen that before, can't remember where - if you find out where it comes from, please let me know - it looks ideal for the single.

When I hear from them, and have the drive on the way, I'll ask about the dampener.  I have a feeling they won't really want to tell me much until they've sold me one.  It would be great if it's an off the shelf item, available in different durometer values.

What was the price on the PSRU in NZ Dollars?

Way back in Feb, they quoted me $1800 USD plus shipping for the drive, but they did not set a price for the adapter in that particular email.

BTW an adapter plate would be easy to make yourself, if you had to - it's just a plate with a bunch of holes in it.

I would certainly give it a shot, but I hope it doesn't come to that.  My hope is that this version would weigh about that their Subaru units weight, which is just under 40 lbs including the starter.

I've roughly added up about 25 lbs of weight loss that I can make pretty easily, which will probably be about the limit for the gyro engine.  I'm still hoping that someone will make all aluminum housings before I'm too old to fly anymore :-)

Cheers,
Rusty (really, REALLY sick of my 25 mile test area)
