I was guessing it would be the relationship between the
two. So if an additional CAS was place somewhere else on the wheel it would have
to be software adjusted to work. (i think)

That's a good question, but I'm sure it's the
factory mounting position as the signal must time the spark and the RX8
timing wheel goes on only one way, I assume the rest do as well.
The timing wheel is bolted to the pulley which has
a keyway, so the timing teeth are fixed ( fool proof), it's just a matter of
placement of the Pick-up. This placement position is identified in the RX8
manual.

This question will
show my lack on knowledge regarding the sensor and trigger
wheel. Could a extra sensor be located in a different position and still
work properly? Does the sensor just count teeth to determine where it is or
does it rely on a relationship between the factory mounting position and the
missing teeth?
