T he best I can tell from my records, I bought in on a group buy of 2 pc Hurley seals sometime in mid 2002, they came with new springs. Then after my Grand Canyon incident, I replaced one rotor and bought one set of 3 seals from Mazdatrix MTX112N326
I  cannot tell which seal was in this failed rotor, but they both show the chatter marks.

Oops, I see I am top posting after your bottom post, Rusty :-)
Sorry

Chuck
I now have Tracy's 2 piece apex seals and I wonder how they will perform, it appears that the heavier weight of the 2 piece seals puts the resonant frequency in the cruising range of 6000RPM?

Interesting report Chuck.  I would think any sort of rotor bouncing would be more of a spring problem than a seal problem.   What springs are you using for the apex seals?  Were they new, proper amount of curvature, big and small spring for each seal?  Just seems odd that no one else has been seeing these chatter marks like you have.

It will be interesting to see if your apex seal grooves are worn as Ed mentioned.  Ed, was your housing full of chatter marks?

Cheers,
Rusty
