I was aware that GM did that on their V-6’s, but this is the first I’ve heard of it being done on the V-8’s.  Also, whenever I’ve seen the wasted spark method used it was with a dual tower coil.  The LS1 coils are definitely not dual tower design.  But I don’t know if wasted spark system works with single tower coils.
