Dennis,

  If you use a big impact wrench, it might be prudent to remove the gear
box to protect it from the torque spikes.

  I blocked my flywheel by bolting a big chunk of steel angle to it and
letting it hit the engine stand.

  I braced the socket with a wooden "crutch" and used a 7 foot pipe for a
cheater. I put my full weight on the pipe before it moved. This is an
insane amount of torque, perhaps 1,000 ft-lbs. I heated the bolt to
just about boiling water temperature with a propane torch to loosen the
locktite. I think that as long as you don't seriously blister the paint
on the bolt, you will be OK

   At first, I thought the standard Atkins thermal pellet would not work
on the Renesis, but after a bit of study I concluded that it would
work just fine.
