Bill, there are a number of RV's(as in airplane) powered by corn fuel. I spent the night with a guy in SD on the way back from Alaska who has both an RV3 and 6 that he has been running a number of years with no problems that I am aware of. There is an RV3 acro team of 4 ships that has been performing at Oshkosh for years. These are all lycoming powered airplanes. I think the BTU/pound comparison is not as bad as the BTU/gal. Just need more volume of tank.
Not sure there is a big saving of petrol chemicals when the total balance is worked out.
