Hi Bill, further to your ideas on eshaft mount, I think this Harley m/c alternator might do the job. The company is in Pomona CA.The website is www.compufire.com I like the idea of mounting the stator coils between the flywheel and the engine(if poss) and having the magnet ring on the flywheel (flexplate). This one is rated at 32 amp. but higher output is available. BR, Dave McC

BR, Dave McCDave, I am refering to the fact that the magnets (permanet) of the Raccemate alternator are intended to be "cupped" inside the WP pulley. The stator mounts around the shaft onto the pump housing. The housing is also a custom item. Several people have suggested running the alternator behind the flywheel. I waas hoping to be able to run it around the e-shaft. The Racemate alternator is designed for, well, Racing so it should handle the higher RPMs. We can always ask the design RPM for full 32 amp output. Multiple units could be used on the "amp suckers" out there.
