You won't know for sure, I guess. But when mine went, I knew what it was right away. Not because my engine is in front. What else is going to cause you manifold pressure to drop, while the engine runs smoothly? I went from 32" to 19" MAP but everything else was fine (fuel pressure, oil pressure, fuel flow, voltage, amps etc). Flipping that turbo switch is not a decision you need to make as part of an emergency. You will have plenty of time to decide that is the problem.
