expensive circuit breakers rather than cheap fuses - must be
something I'm missing. Fortunately, we have the right to make
the choice that suits our preferences (and pocket book).

Have you considered just using foam itself as the duct (w/o the glass)? Rumor has it that Jim Bede's latest cash extractor uses solid foam control surfaces.

Not certain, I understand what you have in mind, Charlie. I fiberglass the outside of the duct and then shape the interior foam core to give me the shape I want, then I put a protective coating of resin over that foam. If you left the foam walls thick enough, I suppose you could just use foam, but near the inlet my foam layer decreases until it meets the fiberglass. I don't think the foam alone would be strong enough at that end.
Or perhaps you have something different in mind.
