Not certain, I understand what you have in mind, Charlie.  I fiberglass the 
outside of the duct and then shape the interior foam core to give me the 
shape I want, then I put a protective coating of resin over that foam.  If 
you left the foam walls thick enough, I suppose you could just use foam, but 
near the inlet my foam layer decreases until it meets the fiberglass.  I 
don't think the foam alone would be strong enough at that end.

Or perhaps you have something different in mind.
