Greetings,
As you may recall, I have
the first EM-2, which is just as you see it on the web page. It comes with
your choice of display, and the electronics are mounted in a metal box (7.5 x
4.25 x 2.25) on the firewall. I ordered a new EM-2 for the
single rotor project, and just received it today. I'm not close to
being ready for it, so I have to admit that I only opened the box to
see if Tracy had slipped in an update chip for my old EM-2.
Anyway, I pulled out the
display wrapped in some padding, and set it down. Next, I pulled out a bag
with some connectors and sensors. After sifting around through the peanuts
in the cardboard box, I realized there was no electronics box. My first
thought of course was that Tracy forgot to put it in the shipping box (he's
not getting any younger you know <g>). About that time I looked
at the display which was now laying face down. Hmmm, what are those
plastic hose nipple things sticking out of the back? And what's this...DB
connectors!!! He's put the whole thing in the back of the display
now, and there just isn't a separate electronics box
anymore!
This is awesome,
particularly since I've been wondering where I was going to find room for all
these boxes on the single rotor project. The most unbelievable part
is that he didn't even mention that he was doing this. He's a
great engineer, but we're going to have to teach him some marketing skills
:-) I almost wonder if he's just waiting to see how long it is before
someone notices. Heck, if I didn't have two, I'd just think this was
normal, and wouldn't realize what an improvement it
is.
Three cheers for
Tracy, and a few for Laura too :-)
Cheers,
Rusty (having that
fingerprint on the screen analyzed)
