You need a "PDF plotter"
Go to : http://www.pdf995.com/
Download PDF995 and follow the instructions to install it. It's free.
In ACAD print window select the PDF995 printer, set your page sizes, line weight files, etc.
Check your print preview and re-adjust as necessary.
Print/Plot as you would to a printer.
You'll get the browser pop up every time you do a PDF plot but just close it.
Save the file and REMEMBER where you saved it.
Done.
I use this at work all the time and it works really good.

I am using AutoDesk 2005 and for the life of me I can't plot to a .pdf file, which everyone could read without much problem. what am I missing? it is a simple polyline 2-d drawing. it wants to create .plt files for me. can I plot the model directly or is a viewport/layout sheet necessary?
