Well, better reading low than high
{:>).
No kidding :-) I've been round and round with this
ASI. I did some formation with an RV-8 buddy, and we decided it
was reading low, about 15 mph IIRC. At one point, I went up and did some
GPS vs ASI tests, accounting for the altitude, and thought I came to the
conclusion that the ASI was right, and the TAS reading on the EM-2 was
wrong. Now, at a low enough altitude to forget about ASI vs TAS
variations, it looks like the ASI is low again. Eventually, I'll figure it
out for sure.
I plan on making my filter housing out of
0.016 or 0.020 2024T3 and see if I can use the housing as a plenum to
boot.
Good plan. If there's any way I can make mine aluminum, I
will too, but it's unlikely, unless I decide to create an all new scoop on the
top of the cowling. I'm not quite ready to go there
though.
Weather looking good for tomorrow - provided
you keep your rain there {:>)
Sorry Ed, but I'm sending this rain anywhere I can. I
spoke too soon about not flooding again. When I opened the door to go to
the hanger, I found my whole yard under water, with about 2" already on the
garage door. Now I'm guarding the house, hoping it doesn't get high
enough to come inside the front door. I am SOOOOO unbelievably pissed
about this. This is 4 times in a month, after never happening in the
previous 13 years. I don't see any choice but to put sand bags
around the front of the house where the water floods from the road.
This sucks!
