Hi! Todd
Items controlled by a push/pull cable are only a problem when pushing, I found that a small return spring at t6he end of the cable takes care of the problem (actually in the past I have seen valves with built in return springs) The only thing that can cause a problem is spring tension, to much and it closes by it's self unless you have a locking type of cable.

Hi George;
    I don't need that extra cooling, so I'd rather just fix the control valve issue. Also the way my system is built, all of my cabin air passes through the heater core, so the only way to get cool air is to close the heater control valve. It actually worked very well until the valve began to stick and I don't expect that once I find time to look at it, it will be difficult to fix. But finding the time is difficult.

Hi! If you used a flap system diverting the hot air outside you would still have that extra cooling. It would be beneficial if your cooling system was just coping.
