I just got back from a great trip to Mexico.  I put on 900 trouble-free
miles, but lost possession of the aircraft.  Upon pre-flight in San Ignacio
I was disappointed to discovered that some coyote now owns N4VY (pee on
tailwheel), but I flew it home anyway (he can have it back when he gets a
pilots license).

San Ignacio is where the gray whales come to breed every winter.  The
numbers are slowly recovering from a presumed extinction.  They are
protected from bother in most of the lagoon, but one area is set aside for
interaction.  Usually it is possible to touch them, but at least you get to
seem them up close.

In the 900 GPS miles I burned 57 gal of gas (15.4 nm/gal, 17.7 miles/gal).
The trip put me past 100 hrs  :-) (sigh, time for an oil draining and fuel
filter cleaning).  Engine was great, new Bluemountain EIFS Lite G3 was great
(except for the lack of Mexican airport database).  Food and company were
great.  Seeing the whales really close up was fantastic.  No unexpected
problems with the Mexican authorities.

The plane was a big hit with the locals.  Cessna 210? Eh, see plenty of
them. Citation – no big deal.  Rotary powered aircraft “hecho in casa” –
best I can tell it was the first ever rotary flight into Mexico.

Keep building.
